Mung Beans to be known as green gram is a native of India but in recent times are widely used by various Chinese dishes. These seeds or pods are smallest to various types of beans. It is slender in shape and seventy five to hundred millimeters long and consists of ten to fourteen spherical oblong seeds about three millimeters in diameter. These can be grown only if nurtured with proper care under favorable conditions.
Best condition for the growth of the Mung Beans:
- Soil- These can be grown in well drained soil with ample quantity of loam and sand as it cannot survive in poor-draining soils, clay soils and wet soils. The plant may die if grown in such soils.
- Sun- It is a kind of full-sun crop that requires at least 6 to 8 hours of sun on regular basis as well as they require ninety to one twenty frost-free days as growing conditions to mature.
- Seed planting- These are delicate and small and can break if handled carelessly. It is should be planted in one and a half inches deep rows with an space interval of two feet apart and nine sees are planted in each row.
- Soil pH- It is grown in soil which is acidic to neutral in nature with the pH rate raging from 6.2 to 7.2
- Watering- These Mung Beans require deep watering occasionally as it cannot tolerate muddy and waterlogged soil conditions.
